In our body, we have a regulatory system called the endocannabinoid system. It includes 2 types of receptors, CB1 and CB2, present all around our brain and body.
CB1 receptors are mostly present in the brain and the central nervous system.
CB2 receptors are mostly found in the peripheral organs and the cells related to the immune system.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in pretty much every biological function such as appetite, sleep, pain and immunity.
But the thing is, our body naturally produces it’s own cannabinoids. Surprising right? And since CBD and THC are also cannabinoids, once in our body, they have the ability to enhance the functions of our endocannabinoid system. Because of this, scientists were able to establish the many benefits and therapeutic effects of CBD supplementation.
